Description


This structure is called "Hlaukwima",(Southhouse) It is one of two structures at The Toas Pueblo in Northern New Mexico. The Stucture was built between 1000 and 1450 AD. Spanish Explorers arrived in Northern New Mexico in 1540 and believed that the pueblo was one of the fabled Golden Cities of Cibola. About 150 People still live in these Structures with no running water or electricity.

I am guessing this is New Mexico. I love the way the color pops out from the earth colored adobe dwellings. The framing to me is a bit overpowering, but great to see these historic buildings.
