Description
The Prinsentuin is a garden built in renaissance style located in Groningen(NL). The picture shows part of a berceau; a path surrounded by roses meant for (noble) women to be able to walk in the open air while not being exposed to the sun thus staying white as a lily :).

Such a beautiful composition, Onno! The POV is sensational here, as well as the soft, delicate lighting. A very interesting subject as well, I must say. It's always fascinating to see how meanings change, and how fashion trends change over time. Noble women at one point were seen as posessing the "essence" of beauty when "white as a lily" as you put it... and now, teenage girls are subscribing to the notion of the tanned look; involving dangerous tanning beds, and such. This is a really wonderful composition, on so many levels!
