Description

Thank you for stopping for a closer look. Any and all comments are welcome and appreciated. The history behind this amazing old relic is awesome. Back in the 1800s when settlers were first homesteading the wide open prairies they tended to build much smaller houses than we have today. This one is quite large by the standards back then since it is 2 story. It is important to remember these hardy folks survived our very severe winters in houses like this with very few of the luxuries we enjoy today such a furnaces and indoor plumbing. Enjoy your day and stay creative. Jim

It is indeed astonishing! And yet they have descendents and didn't die before they had them.

Wonder how they heated it; I don’t see any chimney for a fireplace or potbelly stove. Brrr! Excellent capture! :)

You can certainly see the quality of the workmanship and pride the owners of this beautiful home had. What a simplier time and really not so long ago. Interesting that someone has boarded up the windows and the doorway, nice capture.

Excellent capture. We saw several old and abanded homes on our drive. It is one way to view our past history, for now!! All to soon these old frames will fall and be forgotten with our continued cold, harsh and windy winters. Awesome work Jim.
