Description

I been down by these docks and shrimp boats just a few times in the past year and each time I there there is trash around and look like the same trash each time too. Any way I came down here two weeks ago to take photos of the shrimp boats so i can paint them. I like it and they are hard to paint but almost every thing is hard for me to paint as I do not know much of painting. I do look up some stuff like what color is skin tones. i find that and I still mess up on it as i mix too much of one color so i have to keep on mixing intill i got a lot of skin color paint lol. I going to get a jar one day and mix up a big batch of it so i do not have to keep on mixing. but then i have to buy the whole tubes of paint and there about five differ colors to put into the skin tone and if you wish for darker then you leave out one of the colors. I going to see if i can just add more darker color to get a darker skin tone. See i off chasing rabbits for skin tone have nothing to do with this image lol No I did not draw any of the boats for i did not have time. maybe next time i take the time to go and do some drawing . I took photos of the people fishing which I posted and photos of the sunset which you all saw too and photos of locks which you did not see yet.

It's a sad commentary on our society today - people by and large are just too lazy. How much work can it be to just put one's trash in a bag, and set it out for trash collection? Man, I'm with you on mixing skin tones.... I use to do some airbrushing, and it was quite a challenge to get the same tones if I didn't mix a large batch. It's a lot easier with Photoshop! LOL! Cool photo even with the trash! So do we get to see the paintings? ;-D

You know, sometimes all that is needed to make lazy dirty people clean up after themselves is a little negative publicity. For instance maybe something like this: "Shrimp are bottom feeders, and here is what the guys who provide your food are feeding the fish! They say, you are what you are eat, TRASH!" Or, not. Maybe thats a little strong? Anyway, nice capture and an apt subject matter.

Jay-el-jay told me you were coming to town. If ya guys find time for a lunch or something somewhere, let me know, I might be able to stop in and get some pictures of us together for our galleries.... You really don't want painting advice from me - lol... I paint everything dark - lol ... that's why I fell in love with the airbrush, you can go dark to light, light to dark, dark to light - lol.... but I will say this, all you need is your primary colors, red, blue and yellow... black and white and you can paint anything - as long as you don't need metalics like gold, silver... ....skin is not all one color, I use to buy the flesh paint (testers) for models and painted all flesh straight with that - mistake... Mix yourself up some brown put a little yellow, red and white paint to the side and mix the paint on the subject as you go - I saw your boxer, I liked the colors you came out with.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the case in so many areas around fishing docks. But I know often this stuff is collected and used to create fill in eroded areas where it floods. I do wish it didn't collect like this though. Good place for breeding mosquitoes too.

That is a very good question! The trouble with garbage piles like that is that they always seem to attract more gargabe! Great photo though! Very well captured!

It does look rather neglected Jocko, perhaps you ought to send this picture to the authorities to spur them into action.

Maybe it's me - but the trash here actually is a part of a great composed capture! The partly covered tank (?) or whatever it is have a great "personality". But I fully agree that littering and dumping thrash everywhere is a very bad habit...

It is a shame that they don't try to clean up this place Jock, it really could be beautiful considering the setting

Nice shot. I like the brush painting. Hey, I just turned in a proposal on painting a 40'x12'x 2 story mardi gras float. I will build props out of styrofoam for the sides. The theme in margaritaville. flops and parrots!
