My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I've only been there once and simply standing at the edge is breathtaking. Didn't even know about this structure; how odd they built it to attract more people. You'd think the canyon itself would be enough!!

I have booked a flight over the canyon which I will be doing (with Julie of course)in the next couple of weeks. Am doing a package coach tour starting in Denver and ending in Phoenix. By the way I do like your shot Tara.

A great looking tower ,three different window styles, stones in the walls that make it look like a climbing wall and what looks like a door that opens onto OOPS Nothing,Nice shot.

The stone work is interesting - it looks like it's designed to be used as a rock climbing wall. Thank you for sharing this photo.

I love the construction on this...I'm ashamed to say I've never been to the GC, in all my years living in the western half of the US, and all my long cross-country drives. It doesn't seem possible, does it? I must remedy that one of these days!

I've never heard any visitor to the Canyon be less than hugely enthusiastic. Both sons have been and try to persuade me! This shot is interesting..lots of detail in the structure

Actually, Tara, this is the new house we're building for when I retire... It has a really cool computer room on the top floor with one heck of a view. And on the roof is one kick-butt barbecue grill - solar powered, don't 'cha know.... Yeah, right..... Super capture of this tower - did you go up there? I've been to the GC once - hope to go again, and load up a few flash drives!

I didnt know that tower on the South Rim

I was glad to see this tower has a steel frame and a concrete base. Great view showing the skilled stonework. Nicely postworked to keep the construction stuff out of the picture.
