Description

This is a portion of the World Financial Center. It is located across West Street from the World Trade Center site. Portions of it, particularly the Winter Garden, were damaged during the 9/11 attacks. It was reopened after significant repairs. This was taken on April 27th last year. My sister had to go in to work for 3 1/2 hours, so I went to Battery Park. I took 498 pictures in that 3 1/2 hours. I was keeping an eye on the time and when I had about 15 minutes to walk back to her office, I headed back, planning to go in a block both because it would be faster and to not retrace my steps. I did not know I was at the World Trade Center site until I entered the Winter Garden and looked through the windows on the other side. Tonight was almost a total wash as far as commenting was concerned. My laptop is being temperamental. I turned everything off and did all the defragmenting and such. I'm not sure if it has helped. I hope it limps along for a little longer. I've just saved for Ireland (yeah)! A new laptop will have to wait. Thanks for viewing, and for previous comments and favs!

A superb image. You have made a masterpiece out of the sort of buildig I find incredibly depressing and overpowering.

A true photographer, it is said, is one who can make a pair of shoes look interesting. A master is one who can make his own shoes look interesting while he's wearing them. You've done that with this building. POV and light are superb although I do get this image of a gigantic toddler playing with blocks.

This really is a cool pic Lucinda, and the view here you chose to go with was perfect. These structures really are amazing and have such a dynamic presence. By the way clever job in choosing a title as it fits so well.

Chicago tries to do this and it manages to a degree, but things are just so much bigger in New York, as this shows, gorgeously! What a POV. I love it, and the colors are nicely muted in that urban-grunge sort of way. Really well done, and I love the geometric intensity of this. Everything is clean and angular, sharp and distinct in that form-follows-function sort of way. This is really super stuff!

This architectural design and the geometry of it really appeals to me and my sense of 'OCD', it's clean and mean ;-) what would I give to see this feast for my eyes - a la natural - for myself ? in the meantime, thanks for sharing it with us here ... your walk in the park was worth it, a thousand times Lucinda BB
