Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

Thanks for a great read...as always! Love your photo with layers. Stories lurk everywhere within your posting. I am thinking of 3 or 4 now myself but am unfortunately too lazy to give them life:-) Well done.

Before I saw your city I liked reflections. Having been there, having SEEN what happens with glass and marketing and city life, I have turned into something different than I was before. I came home and saw the same thing in my own city ... a thing that had been invisible to me before. Perhaps there is something magical about a city that has so much going on at once in such an offhand manner. LOVE this!!

What a fantastic shot this is. Exciting and beautiful with all its reflections. I like the little spinnings around it too. :-)

This is a haunting image and your description, so much like what I encounter every day, those fleeting glimpses on the edge of my vision. Wow.

This captures city life so well. As with Tara, being in a BIG city is different and now, for me, I know how exciting it can be. Cites teem with life of all sorts; some great and some not so great. I love exploring the places most people don't go, but in some cities you just HAVE to see some things. I mean, I'm no history buff, but walking to the USS Constitution and seeing Bunker Hill--well THAT was pretty cool! Super shot (after I digressed a bit)--and of course, your narrative always gives in way different meanings!!

Wonderful image of layers, intercepting planes, darkness, and of bright blobs of light. The intensity of expression on the face, meant to sell a product, goes well with the darkness of the image. I love the narrative. There is something so chilling about the idea of being watched by someone that you don't know is there. There was a great twist on that theme in the most recent episode of Dr Who, written by Steven Moffat. There are creatures who can be seen, but the instant a person turns his eyes away, he forgets them. There is added tension in the show because one of the characters almost remembers them. I like how your character is aware, but it is all still a bit hazy. He is breaking through, or has some kind of unusual resistance to, the ability of the shadow things to stay hidden. It makes me very curious what will happen when he sees more clearly. What will he see and how will the shadow people respond? Excellent image and narrative!

How could I forget that night: it was the night before I went into the hospital for my heart surgery. You don't tend to forget nights like that! I love this shot. It's as eerie as the story that goes with it and equally rich in detail and atmosphere. I also love the way it seems to exist in layers and depths of contradictions. Wonderful work here!
