I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Really different. I like it! Great use of The Old Pine and I like the glass sphere reflecting a portion of the landscape. Great smoke effect and foliage, especially the colors. Cool!

wonderful scene, many details, great landscape and atmo

Excellent composition with good foliage deployment. The old pine is showing its underlying wire frame somewhat, and one or two of the larger boulders are a wee bit jagged, but these are just minor technical imperfections in an otherwise well composed and well constructed scene. Great work Bob.

It's a very beautiful work, Bob! I guess the monument was left by extraterrestrials! I'm sure Mark is one of them! :)

What a great title for this lovely image. The monument and sphere make a great addition. Excellent work.

I hiked through the landscape and came to a strange column and wondered about the significance! is the trunk holding it or tries to damage it? while I stand there a mystical fog come toward me and soon I was wreathed in mist. Was this the end of my poor life or will I be saved by a miracle? ;o)
