Greetings all!
I have been a life-long artist since I could hold a pencil, and am a third generation artist to boot. However, I am struggling to re-gain my hold of my so-called talents; having to put aside my passion for a ten year hiatus. I work in oils, graphite pencils, colored pencils, watercolor, ink (pens and quills), calligraphy, oil pastels and acrylics. Portraits, fantasy creatures, landscapes...ect. I'm just, in the past six months, been working on adding to what I put to paper with the computer-and finding inspiration in quite a few artists that I've browsed through and contacted! Hopefully soon-there will be more for others to browse through in MY gallery. Cheers, and thank you for tripping through my artistic tulips!

http://darwinsmishap.redbubble.com/ I find it hard to believe that I've only been using Daz|Studio since just about September 12 '07.... Time has flown fast since I've gotten my hands dirty in this venue! Thank you everyone for the tips, hints, and comments in my gallery. All of them are greatly appreciated. I have recently begun the trek into C3DE (Now Carrara 8 Pro...I have Four freakin' versions of that program. Oi. ) and Bryce along with Hexagon 2.5; wish me luck! And now? Poser. Having fun with that one, yus. I admit my style tends to go from one angle to another like a psych patient; but it's one way I can get my mind to ease up on the creative juices a bit. I appreciate everyone's tolerance of such a thing! ;) Thanks to all my artistic friends here!

Raw renders can lack contrast--often. At least mine do, too, so I'm with you on the post work and why. Good going! And of course, a fetching gentleman. ;^) Did you use Levels (Photoshop) to pop up the contrast of the whole picture? Because the lights on the face are just a bit out of balance with the darks in the picture.

Actually, very little. That came about from a few other layering tricks and the fact that the light that's hitting his face doesn't reach behind him-it goes up from there? I noticed that too, but hey...it added drama? There wasn't much I could do with the contrast with the background unfortunately, from the light set up I had there was hardly any type of shadowplay at all. Thank you both for those lovely comments (and great crit-gotta watch the levels!) you two!

I really love the post worked version of this. The other one is nice, but a little blah, which often renders can come out that way. The highlights on his face, torso and hand in the post work really are nicely done and the contrast adds so much 'pop' to the image without being overlit. I am often baffled by why so many 'night' renders are so overlit, and so many 'night' light sets produce results that could be daylight. I prefer to do my own lights, especially for night scenes. Anyways, enough of my little soapbox, I'm stepping off now. Grand work!

Post work winning.

superb character and that outfit is perfect for the scene. I think it looks so much better with the post work....textures and details look so much crisper.

killer work on original, fantastic work on post! I hate it when people brag about no post, or look down on a renders with postwork! Post can make a scene or character render more unique to the artist! Bravo!
