Description

Lord Wolfe slipped off into the distant past as if he were actually there, telling all that he'd learned... Running on bare feet, Kamaira rushed into the woods she was directed - daring not to stop and look behind her, she set her sights on finding the old woman's home, they'd called her, Ol'Ms Susie. Ol'Ms Susie was a mix - as most Haitians were. She'd come from the land of America on a ship she'd been traveling with other slaves. She was a healer, and secretly, a caster of spells. Through her blood by her mother, flowed that of the African and the Creek tribe and via her father, a Scotsman... all had been slaves at one time, even the Scot. The ship she'd been on had been caught in a storm not far from Haiti. Few survived, she had been one of the few and had lived on the island of Haiti for many years. Most there saw her as a wise elder whom they turned to in times of need because there too she was a healer, a mixer of potions. Seeing the glow of lights ahead, Kamaira found the old cabin shack deep in the woods, at the gate, she finally glanced over her shoulder and finding no one behind her, ran to the door banging and crying out for help. "Mz Suzie - Mz Suzie... veuillez m'aider - veuillez m'aider(please help me)!!" "Come chile, is not lock. Come - my dreams fill often wit'you... come." She called out to Kamaira. With a pounding heart, the young woman rushed in out of breath, dropped to her knees before the old woman by the fire, pleading with her hands gripped before her as if in prayer, babbling off in her native tongue, "He must die! He must die! He - he - he is animal! Animal! Animal must die! Please!" Understanding the African clearly, Ms Susie held her hands out beckoning her near, "Shhhh chile, Ms Susie do'not kill no, not kill." "Yes... die! Animal die!" "No... Dare are better tings dan death ya'know, more betta'dan death. Wat he do chile? Tell Ms Susie." Sobbing, frightened, filled with hatred and anger, Kamaira told her the things he did to her body as she lay unwilling, ending with, "He is dog! Dog..." And in her hysteria, Kamaira began barking and howling, such a sight had Ms Susie throwing her head back in laughter. She liked this girl. "Shhh now, Ms Susie see all, know what is betta. If he is animal...dog - is time, that all should know - he is no man, but animal. Here chile, eat, fill your belly - Ms Susie will fix this..." To be continued... Wow Mercy, this is such a cool story and you have went all out on this collage depicting it. You are so good at getting an intense look and feel into your art, and this is the perfect example of it. It seems there is nothing on this earth that would have kept her from completing this quest to find the old lady who can help her
