@ N8Dreams for most of my night shots (always exposure bracketing with at least -1,0,+1 EV) I use PS CS5 for exposure blending (only sometimes Photomatix). and with layers/masks and lightning values i try to get the best light so nothing if blown out or badly overexposed.
