The Chronicles of Inthandonia, Part 4: The Wizard Wars The Artefact Revisited In the early spring of 940 NC the great magus Bolgaradol Smekter left the Temple of the Eight Million Compassionate Souls in Northern Kaania and began a pilgrimage.  Modern historians know quite a lot about this period of time as Smeckter's journal has survived and is kept safely in the archives of the College of Thaumaturgy in Thanhome. The first entries in this journal are mostly travel notes recounting his steps through Southern Kaania and into the hot steamy jungles of the nation of Wester in the region called The Jade Triangle. He briefly describes his travels to Wellsley, the coastal capital of Wester then his path turns inland and easterly, up towards the greatest chain of mountains on the whole planet of Inthandonia, the Heights of Inha'Sosul. The tone of his writings becomes more excited the higher he travels and the closer he gets to his goal - the mysterious "Artefact", locally known as the StarStone.  Many subsequent commentators have remarked upon the sense of obsession that slowly creeps into Smeckter's writings at this time. Finally, on the second Day of the Warrior of the Tenth Moon of the year 940, Bolgaradol Smeckter found himself on a wooded knoll overlooking a quiet vale - there, poised silently and improbably in a peculiarly circular lake, stood the Artefact.  Smeckter had reached his goal and at the same time he had reached a truly significant karmic crossroad in his life that would ultimately affect the life of everyone on Inthandonia. He didn't know it yet but Smeckter was about to inadvertantly start the planet-wide conflagration that would become known as The Wizard Wars. ####### This picture is another variation on the theme of 'The Artefact', which is a Skrell spaceship.
