Description

This brown edge bugs 'hang' in the bush of our currants. (Ribes rubrum) The Latin name of the bug is: Coreus marginatus Family from the Coreidae. In Dutch : Bruine randwantsen. There are many types of these bugs, so I'm not sure if the name in English is okay. In our garden I've seen at least four different types. Thank you for your visit, and for your nice comments on my earlier upload! It's much appreciated :) Wishing you a very fine day!

We call them leatherbugs. Thank goodness for Latin! They are doing a 'do-se-do' square dance.

I like these a lot! We have various breeds of them in Chicago/the USA and most of them have bad attitudes. Urban bugs, what do you expect? I love the colors here and for a second I thought it was one extremely complicated and slightly confusing insect before I looked closer and realized that it's two insects in the process of making more of themselves. This is marvelous. The colors are stunning. In English, we generally call these "shield bugs."
