Description

Glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) Currently, the glossy ibis breeding population in Italy is rare and highly localized: the 12 pairs are distributed in Piedmont, Puglia and Sardinia. The main threats are to poaching and habitat destruction. The glossy ibis is a gregarious species for the whole year and its colonies will often combine with other species of ciconiformi. He lives in ponds and marshes where it feeds on insects, molluscs, crustaceans and small vertebrates captured by sifting the mud of shallow water. It nests in trees and reeds and along the freshwater and brackish marshes, rich in vegetation, both in deciduous forests hygrophilous. Both parents participate in nest building and care of young children inept I flies after about 28 days after hatching (from 1 to 4), incubated by both parents for a period of 21 days. Later, the young disperse and then migrate preferably separated from adults. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossy_Ibis Good evening and good week Thanks for the comments and the favourites of previous image
