...For a gust of wind to blow us away...
Just experimenting badly with manual settings for appatures and exposures. Still loads to learn as I think I had the appature too small. Meh!

Aperture seems fine to me, the background is nicely blurred to make the subject stand out. It is the composition / framing you may need to work on in my opinion. Currently there is a lot of redundant space in the image, and the dandelion doesnt really grab your attention as much as it could. For instance the composition of the thumbnail was interesting and with the part in focus being the middle of the dandelion clock the eye was drawn to a point of interest roughtly on the lower right third (as per the "rule" of thirds) - plus the subject filled a greater proportion of the frame creating more impact. A central composition would work on this, however it would need to be symetrical, and considering the subject is a circle, that would mean a square crop - you could even tilt it 45 degrees so the stalk is coming from one of the bottom corners of the square frame to create some "dynamic" lines in the image (diagonals = dynamic in general).
