Description
A short time ago I posted an image for Florin(bimm3d), titled "Monsoon moisture".
"Upper Yosemite fall, January 2011"
One comment left by Faemike55 on that image asked if I might have a macro near the reflective pool of water. I did come across this shot, and hope I've guessed correctly in that your interest was the sandstone patterns around the water Mike. A short distance from the water along those patterns yielded a chipping bed. This small area was well protected from the wind by the surrounding sandstone and had a southern exposure. A preferred spot of native Americans to do chores and knapping of different stones. This web site does a fair description of the techniques involved in knapping. http://www.ehow.com/video_4413965_flint-knapping-defined.html To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image, "The busy bee".

I am not sure which is more fascinating, the texture of the sandstone or the twisted root Thank you very much for the image, Dana! I really love it

Those sandstone patterns look interesting, especially with the scattered fragments of stone.

Very nice!

Excellent capture. The background looks a bit like wood. Interesting information. I'm sure most people would look at the debris and just see rocks.

Beautiful raised to an infinite power! Wonderful capture of the details in the sandstone and twisted root. Wonderful composition with the lines in the stone made more compelling by the area of sand and pebbles. I like the round dark rock positioned just out of reach of the branches and shadow of the root. Beautiful shapes of the root and its shadow. Superb image, that shows you are a master in capturing the small beauties of nature as well as the large sweeping landscapes. I love this!
