Description

Another illustration for the upcoming Galaxy Prime RPG. I used a combination of techniques for this: Threshold, levels, the ripple filter, and manually outlining parts of the ship. Once more, I'm shooting for a retro vibe. The background is a distorted enlargement of a NASA photo of a nebula (sorry, I forget which one). I think this was actually one of the earlier illustrations I did, but it's one of the stronger ones, I think. All in all, I enjoyed doing the Sci-Fi art (as a break from the usual Western art I do for my own game). My one regret with this book is that I didn't do more combat illustrations. I've actually got one on the drawing board, but didn't have time to finish it before putting the book to bed this weekend (by the way, it will soon be released, which makes me very excited). Although the image itself will be printed in black & white, I added a hint of color here for the Web... just to give it a little more energy.

It looks like one of the ship designs from the series Andromida.

Neat composition and contrasts, I'm really digging the craft design, uber-cool indeed !

The hint of sepia toning also works well for the sci-fi retro feel.

~Cheers~
