Description

I took this photo of the Indian Watchtower at Desert View, Grand Canyon...then found that the architect, Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter (1869-1958) was the real story behind the image here... Have left this very large...ZOOM to see detailed stone work. If you like art, architecture and biography, take a moment and check out Mary J Colter at this link. Oh, no. So, she fooled you, too! :) Very nice photo of the "fake" watch tower. It looks like it could be a private dwelling from the photo's looks. Keep up the good work. :-)

What a shot! I love the rich details and the textures/colors, and even better, there's a crow making excellent use of this place. Really wonderful. I'm off to follow the links now. I love how ancient this looks, despite the presence of modern glass. Really well captured and presented stuff here!

Wonderful capture of the clarity and detail of every stone in this picture, Bill. When I first saw this structure, I instantly thought of it being easy to defend, with a rifleman or two at every trapizoid opening.

Brilliant shot Bill so much detail. I remember seeing this when I was there, about 10 years ago, I need to get back. Wasn't there a gift shop inside there or am I remembering it wrong. I know I did buy a Grand Canyon sweatshirt and I still have it.
