BIO
My love for digital art started about 2001 when I created simple 2D-wallpapers for my Star Wars homepage. I always was annoyed with the picture-material I had, as it never fitted to my needs and I wanted to create more unique images. Searching the net for a program that could solve my problem I found Bryce. Soon I was a member of a Yahoo-group and everybody was talking about Poser..... That was the beginning of my friendship for this wonderful program! Everyday I learn more about this "mysterious" program and I think I'll never learn everything ;o) Hopefully one day I have the chance to build my own digital models, but at the moment I love it to texture models with PhotoImpact. That's it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! ~Saskia~
Update 2008
Sorry to say that, but I nigh completely abandoned Poser from my workspace, as I've moved on to Carrara, an application I learned to love and that challenges my intention to finally build my own models. I just have to find a way how and where to start learning....

Very nice work Saskia. I'm really liking the lighting, the lack of harsh shadows adds to the softness of the overall portrait. The texturing on both the figure and the costume look spot on. The hair looks unfinished, although what is there I really like (the color and texture have quit a realistic look to them). You've come quite a long way in your artwork, can't wait to see the next one.

There's no doubt this is a very good picture, *****, but if you really want some constructive suggestions, here goes. The hairline on the forehead. Carrara dynamic hair does this. Use a very fine smudge brush in post to 'pull' the colour from the hair into a fuller and more even hairline. A pen and pad is very valuable for that. This is one case where I would say 'tone down the reflections in the eyes'. They have great impact, but in this case they are demanding too much attention from the viewer (me,and I can't believe I'm suggesting that). Lastly for now, look at what's not there, not just at what is. You've done an excellent job with the dynamic hairstyle, but there's a void behind her ear which is just making me uncomfortable. I think you're treading into uncanny valley here, it's so realistic that I feel when something is missing. A graduated background may tone this down, but so will adding a back to the hairstyle.
