Description

This image began with the hurricane candle... which I created in PSP7. I spend many hours in that program attempting to wrestle down glass effects using only highlights, shadows and reflections. Once I had the candle and glass finished, I harnessed up to an idea and rode with it until I got here. (Which reminds me of a Yogi-ism... "You should always be careful if you don't know where you're going... because you might not get there." ;) Please forgive me if I come across as consistently offering up sad images... I don't know why that is... I'm one of those insufferably "always happy" people... lol!... Anyway... thanks for having a peek... :)

It's sad but true. You've created a sense of loneliness and longing. Lovely, delicate textures. Really like this one. It tells a story. I just hope Max finds his way home.

I love this image and what you've done with the glass is amazing. You should write a tutorial on it for PSP7. I use it allot and finding good easy to understand tutorials is difficult at best. The scene presents an image of longing, waiting for that person to come home. Right now that is, for me, my daughter Holly. She is in Ireland on a Mission trip and there is allot of escalated violence going on. So your image has a deeply personal meaning for me. Thank you for sharing it with us.

It's a fantastic image to me Helen :) You have captured so well that feeling, there's a soft sense of incredibly wide sadness, starting almost to choke the viewer, but slowly, oh, so slowly which is like a progressive learning to un-breathe. It's hopeless, powerful.. gorgeous. And don't mind if you are "one of the always happy" I am too, but to be really happy, one has to reckon and understand also the biggest sadness and dark. Otherwise is not real happines, it's just.. not knowing anything else. So be glad, you know about sadness and happiness.. but you generally choose happinessss :) You have a great sensitivity, keep up the great work :)

This is beautful and touching...magical too. I think the windows are excellent and I can tell what they were the second I saw them. It seems that some of the so called experts of art need glasses...your work is perfect and gets my vote for the hot20!

wow! the little details drove me mad! The message's words, the numbers on the key... and what about the whole rendering? Very well done, and very dramatic & intense.

Outstanding job on the hurricane lamp glass, and the flame and flame reflection are wonderful! Helen, you've gone and done it again. One of those images that just grabs your insides and twists them with the feelings that it generates. I've had and lost a lot of dogs in my lifetime and you're killing me!

The theme and attention to detail are excellent....this is a very nice image. With regards to some of the comments about criticisms....I would be lying if I did not think that certain areas could be improved (after all, is any image perfect?). An artist must learn to accept (if not embrace) criticism, however hard it is to do so. Someone's remarks may just help you to reach another level of excellence. Just keep on creating...I'm always learning something new..that's half the fun of it!!!!

What a beautiful, heart-touching image - my cat was missing for almost 2 weeks about a year ago, and this is exactly how I felt! The composition, details and textures are excellent and that hurricane lamp is stunning....please, please, please, do a tutorial! :-)

A wonderful merging of the spiritual with the eternal. The meaning has just arrived as the lost departed.

Only by experiencing sorrow can we truly appreciate moments of great joy. I never dwell on the past but I never forget it either. The sad moments in our life though often tragic have made us who we are today. And if we love who we are, we can not regret what it took to shape the people we have become. I wish you the greatest happiness from this day forth! :)
