Description
Found at one of the Mission District Flower stands on my way to the 2 day Carnaval celebration which takes place on the last weekend in May.
This years theme, “Live Your Fantasy” is California’s largest multi-cultural celebration, and one of San Francisco’s most popular and cherished traditions. San Francisco Carnaval 2011 will showcase the very best of Latin American and Caribbean cultures with a dynamic array of food, music, drumming, dancing, live music, and artistry, plus a Grand Parade on tommorow.

Gorgeous. I love the textures and the almost predatory feline stripes on the petals. Really crisp. This is quite an excellent composition as well; it has a kind of Zen quality, though maybe a bit of Shinto philosophy thrown in just to keep things a bit interesting. At least that's how I see it, and I love it when a photograph actually opens up enough to allow a viewer to import things like that into it. Excellent!
