UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Oh, to walk bare foot there! Reminds me of a beach in south west Sweden where I spent a few summers in a distant relative's summer cottage (but no mountains in the background!). This is SO nice to look at! Thanks for the post! :-)

I love the layers of grass going back and back and back. Great perspective, and the sand really does look wonderful! :) You remind me that I haven't touched this series yet ... I'll have to get busy!

I like dunes. I admit it's because "Dune" also happens to be the title of one of my favorite novels. I shall, however, refrain from quoting Bene Gesseritt sayings throughout the body of this comment. I also like dunes because they're just so darn weird. I always wonder what's under them, and if that something might be revealed when they move on...since dunes have a pronounced sense of wanderlust and they never stay put. These are nicely anchored (for a minute) by the grass, which makes me think that any fictional Fremen in the area are probably hard at work getting water, while also trying to maintain the ecological balances that allow their oh-so-revered sandworms to survive. Funny how one picture evokes all of that, but then, Frank Herbert spent a lot of time hopping around the Pacific Northwest photographing dunes (and measuring them) while doing research for what was to become his magnum opus. And so there you have it: mental wanderings from the mind of Chip, and how dune-like those wanders are...they'll shift and change and blow somewhere else on the winds of whimsy within an hour and this comment will be the only record of their existence. And so having said all of that I'll also say that I like this picture immensely. And I agree with Andrea. Bare feet on dunes is best, unless there are scorpions around. This is a great shot and I love the light. The shadows are magical and that sky is high-drama indeed. This rocks.

This is a photo worthy of a National Geographic calendar, Bill! Walking/climbing really big dunes is quie a workout - and yes, that sand gets in your shoes, and everywhere else! I was cleaning sand out of my camera bag for a week after I got home from Florida. If you've never been to White Sands, NM, it's definitely worth a trip - especially now you and Tara have that fancy home-on-wheels! Just watch out for those really big worms....

Ahhh! I remember this place...and I really want that house up on the hill, seem to recall Mandy enjoyed it here too......

I also love the look of Dunes, the eeriness of them, the spaciness they need - they appear so incomplete - but forever vast - in just one word 'magical' ... BB PS best - no shoes!

Lovely. looks allot easier than what we did today. i am shattered after Ten miles of hard walking, mainly in short gorse bushes,

Excellent shot Bill and I especially like it without human foot prints. I did notice animal tracks and that is OK and maybe even Mandy. Nice background with the waves, mountains and clouds. Dana
