Description
In 2000 the London-based architects spacelab won the competition for a new museum for contemporary art in Graz, Austria. They proposed a transparent, bluish, organic shell that looked like a hovering piece of jelly. The Kunsthaus Graz, Grazer Kunsthaus, or Graz Art Museum was built as part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2003 and has since become an architectural landmark in Graz, Austria. Its exhibition program specializes in contemporary art of the last four decades.
Its unusual form differs radically from conventional exhibition contexts, many of which maintain the traditions of the modernist White Cube. The team of architects used an innovative stylistic idiom, known as blob architecture within the historical ambiance of the Murvorstadt. Thus, the gigantic building affectionately called the Friendly Alien by its creators Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, in form and material, stands out consciously against the surrounding baroque roof landscape with its red clay roofing tiles.
Here you can see the reflections of both the baroque house close to it and the street on the blue skin. The protuberances are windows, which lighten the interior together with neon spirals, as you can see in my previous post.
Thank you for your kind comments.

Fascinating image and info - thanks for sharing, I would have never ever seen this kind of art - unless I travelled abroad, which I'd love to do, but is not always and virtually possible, so thanks for bringing this little world closer Sandra, I am mesmerised by this fine 'spaceship' ;-) BB

One really needs to Google - image the museum and it's amazing isn't it. Like no other. Has so many shapes from so many different angles. Fascinating.
