Description
After my heart was restrained back into my chest, I found a good and safe (OK - safer) location to take photos of this beautiful black bear. This HDR was taken at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. This is one of my favorite places - at least when it is not very crowded.
Hope you like the effect from this high dynamic range. Comments are welcomed and appreciated.

hey, he is looking at you. Mountains with bears, for my taste too dangerous, but maybe these encounters are seldom and you are not his usual prey. sharpness is on the tree left behind him but absolute accepetable and understandable. don't like the bokeh of your lens (only a personal matter) and would maybe work den background in photoshop. a phantastic wildlife picture !

I'd have never gotten a picture (would have fainted dead away!) I'd don't wonder at all that your heart was pounding a bit. Excellent capture!

This looks like a very large specimen and you were not that far away either! Very scary to me as I was once chased by a black bear, though I stayed close enough to my vehicle so I knew I'd be safe. Still, the adrenalin gets going and he continued to chase after I was driving away. He's beautiful, and I love your photo!

Amazing, gorgeous creature. Think the HDR works great for the foreground, but not the background; personal taste of course, but the tree in the background - which should be nicely out-of-focus - has become too much of a distraction. Perhaps the HDR could be applied selectively using layers? Hope you don't mind this comment!
