Description
This cannon was built at the Lowmoor Ironworks near South Bradford England in 1861. Two years earlier, the government of Victoria Australia ordered thirty of them to be used for coastal security. They are still in place to this day, even though none of them have ever been fired in anger! I went to photograph this particular cannon because it usually has flowers sticking out of the barrel!!! They were gone on the day I shot this! Any invading nation be warned...step foot on our soil and you are likely to get hit in the side of the head with a bunch of gladioli! Shot with my Canon 5d II which would be even funnier if the spelling was the same!

Vividly reminds me of cannons used in fixed fortifications and on ships during our Civil War (1861-1865). Good "shot":)
