Description

Hmmmm... I thought I might post both renders up , I learnt how to import into Daz from a work in poser so I did that here. I really like my poser render on the left, love the materials of the fabric, but I wasn't getting that silky hair or the shadows I wanted. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with poser but I'm not getting what I see other artists do. The eyelashes in poser drove me crazy, I cant work out how to fix the transparencies to make them show up in the render, they just dissappear and are to faint. I bought all the lights I can find but none seem to give me that nice look. On my right here is a Daz render using the Uberenviroment lights and I love how it makes it feel more real, but hate the way the materials get messed up! I'm hoping one day I get this whole thing worked out to my satisfaction!!! Please leave any comments you have time for like helpful hints, critiques and which you prefer :) thank-you :) Credits: Now the model I used is the lovely Thorne- Naime from Daz and I used the freebie Remap from here freestuff on kids 4 with Naime. it messed up her eyes underneath a little, I got creases, but nothing I can't fix in PS. I'm having loads of fun with the remap! Gigi for kids 4 outfit.

~I haven't worked with Poser much, so I can't offer much help there. But I have observed exactly what you have about the different ways Poser and DAZ render. Poser seems to do materials much better, although with a lot of tweaking in the surfaces tab you can get DAZ to do surfaces pretty well too. I am partial to the Uber light for the reason you express, it gives a nice feel of reality. Thanks for sharing your posts side by side!~

Nice work. Good comparison. I do like the more natural lighting in DS but I agree the clothes materials could be better. Poser surface settings do get messed up when loading in DS. Generally the most common problem areas are as follows (go to DS Surface tab Advance settings). A) DS Specular-Glossiness & Specular-Stength. - DS doesn't load Poser specular maps so you have to load them manually. - Also experiment with glossiness & strength settings. B) DS Ambient-Color & Ambient-Strength. - If ambient colour is black then change to white with strength around 10%. C) DS Bump-Stength & Bump-Negative & Bump-Positive. - If the surface has a bump map then set Bump Stength (100%), Negative (-0.1), Positive (0.1) as the initial settings. Do test renders (shadows off) to tweak surface setting to get the best values.

thank-you so much for all the support, I'm off to try those settings LBA Magic :) I'm hoping I will be back to post a better render. Thank-you Alessimarco and Wotan, I really appreciate your opinions :) I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with the settings in poser and surfaces in Daz.
