Audie Murphy is most decorated US soldier.He was born in Kingston,Texas very near Greenville,Tx.this statue is at the Audie Murphy Cotton museum. it was sculpted by Gordon Thomas and Brett Thomas-Apprentice war heroes are usually portrayed as huge macho men, but A. Murphy did not fit the stereo type.he was 5-5 inches and weighed 110 pounds when he enlisted.he was denied entry into the Marines,Navy, and Air Force from being too small.he later was accepted into the US Army.he was also underage.his older sister forged his birth certificate to make him appear to be 18 the thumb is on special parking places for Audie Murphy fans thanks for your visit and any comments
