Description

Captured 5/26/11, at the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific, in beautiful Long Beach, California. Much better viewed via ZOOM. The Underwater Viewing Tunnel at the Aquarium is for watching seals and sea lions, swimming and cavorting about, with nary a care in the world. Top two pictures show some seals during their ceaseless routine of circling the enclosure. The bottom three fotos I tossed in for human interest stuff, especially #3 showing a feral gamin doing his best imitation of Spiderman by launching himself through the air and onto the glass. I was really fortunate getting that shot. In fact, other than some graininess, my tunnel pics came out much better than the ones I took in the Blue Cavern. Interestingly enough, despite the antics of that one flying imp, the young'uns were relatively well behaved in the tunnel, which was in stark contrast to many kids' composure in the Blue Cavern, where they run wild. There were less of them in the tunnel, which allowed the parents and teachers to keep them pretty well under control. Note the youngsters tendency to touch and lean up against the glass with their bodies and hands. Maybe they're trying to bond with the animals. But I do find fascinating the rapt expressions of the kids standing quietly and observing the sea life - so miracles do happen. Arreviderci, thankx for sitting in, and for any and all favs and laudatory comments.

Harry, this is a splendid collage you created my friend. Nice pics of the sea lions and a marvelous idea to show the children and their reaction to all the amazing sea life they encountered.

Its great to see the kids enjoying this great place. Although I must say the kids I work with would all know to enjoy the view without climbing the walls!!!!!! As an adult I could sit in these places for hours.

These kids are making lifetime memories. I vividly remember being 9-10 years old and the marvels of the New York City museums...whales, dinosaurs, knights in armor. You have captured these children doing the same thing. Excellent collage revealing enthusiasm, awe and wonder. And of course, I like your images...well done.

Beautifully done, it couldn't have been easy under those lighting conditions. You got that eerie blue underwater light just perfectly! And nice to see there are some kids that know to pay attention and absorb what's around them. Great work, Harry!

Beautiful images and great sequence! In the first two, I feel the slow, lazy world of the seals. A world very apart from the busy world of the children outside the glass. The third image (a great capture of the feral gamin in motion) is that other world of motion and chatter. In the last two images the two worlds seem to merge. You can see the connections being made. Hands on the glass, and minds enraptured. Wonderful work. Beautiful light! I love the last two images!
