Description

The poacher responsible for the death of the Great Stag turned out to be none other than the Baron's Huntsman himself. When asked to give the man over for his punishment, the Baron refused. 'We only ask that you obey our laws in our lands, and that you give us our dues for our help,' Gryffyn said to him, being as civil as possible under the circumstances. He'd gone himself - in the flesh. Fayidh wanted more than anything to come along, but Fayidh was angry and that would not do. 'Absolutely not!' the Baron bellowed at him. He then pointed up in back of his throne - as if Gryffyn needed to be shown - where hung the Great Stag's enormous antlers. Hanging below it was a crucifix - the cross of the Christians. 'It's just an animal, you bloody pagan Sidhe. What're you gonna do? Bring it back to life? I doubt even you could do that. Out with ye and dont ye darken my door again or I'll have your entire forest burnt to the ground!' So, thats how it was - the priests had come from Rome and turned their hearts against them. Sometimes, men just needed to have a bit of a reminder of the power of the Fey.... It was July and all the crops were growing in the Baron's fields. It was a good year. The Fey had assured it would be so in the Spring, when they drew down the rains. Not too much and not too little. The hillsides were a riot of colorful flowers and everything was alive! As he sat upon the hill, looking into the sunset and across the verdant land, Gryffyn ap Llyr raised his staff and summoned the cold boreal winds of the Northlands. They swirled and danced around him, awaiting his bidding. 'Fly low, fly high! Let the storm pass us by - but take your pleasure Ice and Show, in the valleys down below, until the King let Huntsman go!' Gryffyn whirled three times widdershins to the Sun's path and the Moon rose in the sky. The boreal winds raced down across the valley, bringing with it a blizzard such as they hadn't seen since last winter solstice moon! A slight twist of a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth for a brief moment. 'We'll see if you listen to reason now, Baron. I tried diplomacy, but you refused most unkindly. So mote it be, then. So mote it be.' Thanks for looking and have a great day/evening! R.

Wonderful pictureAnd your character is as seductive as ever. As for the story, there is so much to be said about the roman conquests, the fall of Rome and how christianity rose over the ashes of the fallen empire and how it erased slowly but surely the old beleives. I like talking about all these subjects but my pathetic english betrays me. Your friend, Odile

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Here it could not be more literally so. Oh, I do love stories where the pompous, pious Christians get their due. He looks beautifully satisfied with himself... as he should be. I have bounced around a bit to pick up the thread.
