Description

FORMULA 1 MONTREAL To give the name of one of the largest pilots of the history of formula 1 to one of the most beautiful circuits of the championship goes from oneself. The ninth handle of the Championship of the world season 2011 once again will proceed on the circuit Gilles Villeneuve. If it is not as spectacular as that of Bahrain or Malaysia, it with the extraordinary advantage to be very close to the downtown area of Montreal. That allows the teams and the spectators to attend with the activities surrounding the event and the night life of Montreal. The restaurants and clubs of night which vibrate all with the sound of F1. The circuit Gilles Villeneuve underwent some transformations since its inauguration in 1978. But they are minor. The drawing remains the same one. Of a length of 4,361 km, the circuit is in the category of the rapids. If it is not Senna curve and series of turns which succeeds to him, the other part much faster is intersected by the famous pin. This configuration enables us to see one of most spectacular the Grand Prix of the season. Montreal on television remains also the Grand Prix more listened in the world taking into account its hour of diffusion. The accustomed spectators know pertinently that the steps of the Senna turn and the pin are the places of predilection for the tests. As much with the Formula 1 with the series support. With its 15 turns, the circuit Gilles Villeneuve received his first race of the series queen in 1978. After the dead of Mosport which did not fulfill any more the requirements of TRUSTED, Montreal obtains the organization of the famous test. Personality of the world of the communications at the time, Maurice Brisebois takes the direction of the Grand Prix of Canada. In little time, Brisebois and its team carry out the impossible one. They choose a layout which are connected with those Monaco and Long Beach on a site enchanter, the Notre-Dame island, made famous for the place of presentation of Expo 67. The committee entrusts to Roger Peart, the current president of the Canadian ASN, representing TRUSTED it in Canada, the mandate to draw the circuit which one knows today. As it is always the case, the circuit must also be approved before accomodating F1. They is hardly a few months after the granting of the race by TRUSTED which the organizers could accomodate an Atlantic race of Formula, two weeks before the behaviour of the Grand Prix of Canada. Organized during the autumnal season, the spectators are cold, but have the passion of the race all the same. In front of more than 80.000 spectators, in fact the Inhabitant of Quebec Gilles Villeneuve gains the first test over the circuit which bears its name now. It is into 1982 that the Grand Prix changes date. The test is now presented in June for the happiness of the amateurs. Thirty-three years later, the circuit Gilles Villeneuve is always with the calendar and remains impossible to circumvent for the pilots, the teams and impassioned of Formula 1.
