Nice work! You can also try softening the normals on the round parts and hardening the normals on the sharp edges. Works wonders even without smoothing. That way you wont need so many polys. Renders faster too. :)

Thanks for the feedback guys! Hope you check out my future work. In regards to softening and hardening normals. I've adjusted them anywhere possible. poly count/render time really wasn't an issue while modeling. Since I'm n ot going to use this for a game. Adding bevel is what truly brings the count up though. In my mind the only sharp edges should be the edge of a blade. So now I can use this thing as a normal map. Posting another render tomorrow. Stay tuned.
