On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Very abstract! I was going to say that I recognise the model, but that would have me lying till I am blue in the face... Clive

I was reminded of flowing water when I saw the thumbnail for this, and now seeing it on full sized zoom, it still recalls flowing water: the clean, cool sort of flowing water, without mosquito eggs or anything like that in it...the kind of cool, clean water with a slight mineral taste, because it's from the village well, where everyone goes to get a quick drink before or after buying eggs and fennel and mushrooms gathered from the nearby forest, where hunters go in search of wild boar or pheasant or even more mushrooms, if they happen to be Central European Slavic. And so with all of that, I have to say that this is an incredibly evocative photo and a perfect abstract as it recalls everything under the sun, including a close-up and personal part of a marvelous automotive contrivance. (Bulgakov always called cars "automotive contrivances" at least in translation.) This is a gorgeous and relaxing shot.

Elegant and swellegant in this automotive closeup, Bill. Looks like a glass rope or cable of some sort spanning the image.

It seems that most photographers have a yearning or passion for the 'BLUE', I am no exception - in fact it is almost an obsession - forever blue, long live blue - LOL, BB PS ~I would also like to thank you, for your kind Birthday greetings, via Andrea 'durleybeachbum'~

Blue - color of calm and of healing. I always like to wear something blue. And this, with the compound curves reflecting in each other only leaves us guessing what part of the car(s) we're seeing. A beautiful abstract, but yet very concrete photo. The curves and color remind me of the new commuter trains I've presented in a post from before Christmas. Thanks for comment on my post from yesterday. :-)
