Description
Syria Planum Landing - Twilight
NOTE: Image re-named April 10, 2013.
An Orion’s Arm future history image.
In the months after the Settlers land on Mars areas around the Cargo Landers become populated. Here partly and fully unloaded cargo carriers loom in the deepening dusk over a town of converted cargo modules.
The work in this image involved playing light against shadow to capture the quality of dusk and still allow enough ambient backscatter illumination to capture detail. I feel my final solution correctly captures how this scene would appear in reality.

Almost Perfectly done. I wonder what it would be like when the first humans to view "lunar" eclipses of Phobos or Deimos from Mars. Is it ever possible that both may exprience eclipse on the same day? Perhaps NASA can tell us.

Nice work here. Convincing and plausible. Reminds me of the famous Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson

I actually opened an account simply so I could comment on this. I'm an engineering and history geek who's been working on developing his own near/retro-future sci-fi universe and your artwork work has been a major inspiration and influence. Thank you and keep up the good work. PS: I initially became aware of your work through ProjectHRO's Atomic Rocket Page: http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/artgallery.php#WilliamBlack
