Description


This is a piece of limited edition Bristol Blue Glass - very expensive but very beautiful. The glass is produced by adding cobalt powder to the molten glass in the crucible.

And one of the reasons that cobalt oxides and carbonates are so expensive stems from the fact that the mines are in areas of Africa once ruled by the likes of Amin and Kenyatta. I can't remember which of them prevented export of it for years, when I was still a potter and used it quite a bit. What a gorgeous object!
