Back at my Aunts House where the birds enjoyed the winters day feasting on bread crumbs and drinking and bathing in the bird bath.Blessed weekend for everyone. The mousebirds are a small group of (possibly near passerine) birds which have no known close affinities to other groups, though they and the parrots and cockatoos (Psittaciformes) may be closer to each other than to other birds. The mousebirds are therefore given order status as Coliiformes. This group is confined to sub-Saharan Africa, and is the only bird order confined entirely to that continent. They had a wider range in prehistoric times and apparently evolved in Europe.

What a tail on that beauty! I love the light and the colors in this shot! I keep forgetting you guys have it backwards on that side of the equator (or are we backwards?) with the seasons, and that's always incredibly amusing to me. It takes so little to amuse me! Great shot here, and I love the overall color. Wonderful work!
