My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

For a moment I thought it was something industrial until I saw the port light. Very abstract, yet I can envisage the chopper with it's rotors folded. Superb! Clive

Beautiful colors on this abstract Tara :-)

All full of those good things...light, shadow, diagonals, texture... Well done! Must go back to my Edwards AFB pics and see what I might be able to add:)

great capture !!like the light & shadowplay on the Heli !!

yeah thought is something like an aeroplane because of the rivets. This point of view i don't have developed yet. As i would try to get the whole heli, possibly without people around and with a not overexposed sky etc. always facinated when photographers can get something interesting out of a detailed partial view.

I was undecided between an airplane or a bridge (since bridges also have lights). I was actually leaning toward bridge because of the bird droppings, although admittedly it would be an awful color for a bridge. Wonderful!

Plane, yes (rivets), but what part, and what kind? You got me stumped until I read the text. But I still have a bit of a hard time to see the correlation between the 2 shadows on the side and the black/gray object. Very good job with this photo! Keep up the good work! :-)

I don't know how you do it. One of the qualities of a successful photograph is visual interest. You've got your sunsets and your flowers, puppies and children. Then yoi've got your nothing. Ninety-nine people would look at a helicopter and see a helicopter. Reinhard makes a good point about taking a picture of the entire aircraft. You are one of the few people on this site that can make something interesting out of nothing. Must be all that cold weather up there.

Wonderful image, Tara! Only you could take something like a helecopter (which I consider a work of art in itself...) and make a beautiful abstract out of it! Superb capture!

a look with a stare then a read to understand wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda Kaye

You know, I've read about potential swords and lazy guns, but I've never seen or considered abstract helicopters, but now that I've see (and enjoyed) one, I'm glad for that! I've always felt that photography is more about implying than revealing, and in that way it's the opposite of good writing, where the rule follows the show: don't tell, guideline. I love the mystery in this shot. You've said it's a helicopter and I can see one of the navigation lights and yet, I can see so many different things in this single shot and for me, that's quite incredibly marvelous.

I am starting to learn this lesson of looking at everything more closely than just glancing and hoping to get a shot .Some have the eye naturally some have to work at it :o).. Mick
