Description
Captured 5/26/11, in the lobby of the beautiful Aquarium of the Pacific, in beautiful Long Beach, California.
ZOOM worthy!
One of the most interesting features of the vast Blue Cavern are its two divers, who swim about, tending the denizens of the deep, thereby creating a stellar deep sea atmosphere for the visitors to gaze at in wonder. The divers are most accomodating in posing for photographers, which was the case in this instance.
This was my first effort at doing aquarium fotos, and it really tested my mettle as a photographer and Photoshop connoisseur. Because of the dim eerie lighting, I had to postwork the Blue Cavern fotos to the Nth degree, especially in the area of graininess. In the above pic, I sacrificed some sharpness in getting rid of the coarse grainy effects. Damn the ISO, full speed ahead! I also eliminated reflections, messed around with contrast, cropped the image, etc.
I intend to return to the Aquarium, hopefully this week, this time armed with battle experience and my Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot camera, with its aquarium setting, and do this thing all over again, which includes again entering the noisy and disconcerting pit of tumultuous imps and urchins.
Auf weidersehen, thankx for looking in, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Great job on this, Harry. Love the lighting in the shot. I like the softness...works especially well here.

I think you did well here, Harry; photographically and in the postwork department. I don't know if Neat Image works on your system, but it works well to get rid of noise/grain. It might be worth looking into. And maybe if you try and look "unsavoury" some of those imps/urchins might be kept as far away from you as possible? Good luck on your reshoot! Remember the polarizer helps eliminate window reflections...

A friend of mine works as a diver with the sharks in the Melbourne Aquarium and loves it. She says the danger lies in them running into you more than biting you.

I love it Harry! This is a fantastic photo. Be there when they open and get a jump start on the little noise makers. Dana

Just for a flash second did I also think, this is was 3D art ... and just to think all the trouble you went through, tweaking it - to make it look real ... LOL! never-the-less, kudos to you, BB

Love this Harry. I am behind you 100%...will look forward to what you get for results using the "aquarium setting"... You could be Captain Nemo looking out one of his viewports on the Nautilus. Glad you had an alert and willing poser:)
