Description

Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame is dead and my heart goes out to his loved ones and the loved ones of his passenger, who gets forgotten in the mix. That said, I am a bit distressed, as a child who lost a mother to drunk driving, that so many fans feel that because he was a media star, no one should mention the potential that he was drinking and driving and contributed to his and his passenger's demise. Some fans go so far as to blame the passenger who, admittedly, did not make the best choice getting into the car with a drunk driver. Fans heap scorn on him while calling on others not to trash Dunn. "Why trash a dead man?" One asked. Uhm, dude--by heaping insults on Dunn's passenger, aren't you also trashing a dead man? Logic abounds but it is an emotionally volatile situation--perhaps cooler heads will prevail when the smoke clears. I personally don't think anyone should be trashing anybody--just stating and looking at facts. No matter who you are in life, rich or poor, famous or unknown, facts are facts. While the coroner has yet to declare it, a tweet pic an hour before his demise shows Dunn looking very well shit faced and holding up a mixed drink. I don't think it takes a genius to know what caused this crash--its just a matter of making it official. If Dunn was indeed drinking and driving, he'd be no better than ANY person who drank and drove. Being famous or beloved by millions doesn't make him less accountable for his actions. My Mother was killed by a drunk driver in 2009. She was on her way home at a cross walk when the man hit a parked car, jumped onto the side walk and killed her instantly... The accident was so bad a closed casket was advised. This could have been worse and other people could have been killed. ...While we can mourn the loss of the human being Dunn was, I do not think he deserves a medal for killing himself and someone else just because he was famous for shoving a truck up his butt, and that is even on the idea that the passenger got into the car with him. Two human beings died based on bad decisions. THAT is sad....THAT IS UNFORTUNATE... That is the TRUTH.... R.I.P brother--I was not a fan but I hear you were a pretty kewl dude--all things considered.... A

I am so sorry for your loss of your mother. My wife's father was a volunteer fireman, who when he was on the scene of a 3 car accident, caused by a drunk driver, he pulled a door off of one of the cars and carried the victim up a hill to the other paramedics. Thirty Seconds later the other paramedics were working on him, unsuccessfully. He'd suffered a fatal heart atack caused by the strain he'd just put on his heart. Actions have consequences. And sometimes they are not direct, but jsut as dire. Thank you for saying what needs to be said. Well Done.

Beautiful picture. I didn't knew about your mother. But knowing that, I understand your reaction to Dunn's accident. So now I know you a little more, and I am thinking of Nietzsche's words, "Everything that not kills you make you better".

Beautiful Image. I'm not a Jacka** fan and didn't really know much about Dunn. When I was 11, my 11 year old friend's mother was killed by a drunk driver. When I was 17 one of my best school friends, also 17, was killed by a drunk driver. My ex's father was killed in a car accident and his little brother left a paraplegic when they were hit by a drunk driver. I'm very sorry you lost your mother in this way, Sepia. Too many people are left grieving and shattered due to the poor decision of getting behind the wheel when drunk. The Dunn tragedy proves, yet agaain, it can happen to anyone.

If you drink and drive then you are pond scum and I don't care who you are. I had to watch a girlfriend bleed to death in my arms thanks to a drunk driver who couldn't even manage to kill her outright. Apparently it took 5 police officers to pull me off him although I have no memory of that. My condolences for the loss of your mother

Nice work and I am sorry to read about how your mother was killed, goes to prove we all must try to live each day fully. And I was not really a fan of his work, but I did hear of the accident, and well we all know the dangers of drinking and driving.

My sincere condolences to you and to all the other people here who have written stories of tragedy caused by drunk driving. What is criminal in this society is that we virtually honour these bastards by giving them such light wieght sentences. Like loosing their license for a few years and a maybe a year or two in jail. Oh my heart bleeds for these poor bastards. Drunk driving causing a fatality should be treated as a felony on the first offense. Start pounding these bastards into the ground before they bury more innocent people. But oh no, conservative lawmakers wanna keep the booze flowing, its good for business and it keeps the tax man lubricated too. My supervisor, who was as much a father to me as any man, was killed by a drunk driver in a head on collision. Brilliant mind and awesome character wiped out in an instant because some asshole wanted that extra J.D. and coke.

Exactly, which is why it is stunning that a celebrity drunk driver is to be treated with kid gloves--they talk abotu how he is dead too and it is over. No it isn't--they don't seem to get the fact that NO ONE needed to be dead because this guy decided to drink...
