Description

This is a stitched panorama picture made in Miltenberg am Main. It shows the place in front of the tavern and hotel "Zum Riesen" (The Giant, the building at the right of the center) that is the oldest tavern in Germany where I used to put my head on a pillow during last weekend. The Riesen has been already known, and recognised officially, by the court as early as 1158, when Emperor Kaiser Barbarossa stayed overnights. In 1314, Ludwig from Bavaria stayed at the Riesen zu Miltenberg shortly after his coronation, and in 1368 Karl IV also made a visit here. About 11 emperors and many kings are told to have slept there. Luther convinced the Count of Erbach to take over the new dogma in the Riesen. In the 20th century Elvis Presley was only one of the famous guests. Please post comments. ;-) Bernie
