Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

What a marvellous capture here. I love it with all its different reflections from near to far. Looks like little people from another dimention are sitting on a bench enjoying life. Like you can see severel layers of worlds at the place :) And I certainly loved your cosy narrative too.

A clever piece of writing....very ..satisfying. The image is excellent, and perfect for the prose.

A fascinating photo - all these 'ghosts' completely absorbed by tiny LCD screens.... Love the photo, but what makes it complete is the writing that accompanies the image. Together, a masterful piece of work, my friend!

Nice capture of the reflection. Of course your title reminded me of Vaughn Monroe's "Ghost Riders in the Sky".

Do you ever feel like telling these people to stop looking at their 'devices' and LOOK OUT THE WINDOW!!!!! It's staggering the amount of people I know who's children won't go for a drive in the country without a DVD player in the car for something to watch!

Glad you had a great time with your friends. I also like all the different layers in this photo.:)

I'm a huge fan o Neil Gaiman and this picture reminds me of what one of his characters - Delirium of the Endless - who says that she likes the "places that are not proper places" or " the in-betweens". The image captured portrays EXACTLY that feeling. Love the way you were able to position yourself just so that your own reflexion wouldn't show.

I got distracted by Monica's comment and went off on an Internet ramble for a bit. Excellent image! I love all the layers. The couple sitting look like visitors from another place who are viewing this world from a window in another. Like humans watching an ant farm. I like the sharpness of the line of the platform and the way sits on one man's lap and disects another. Very interesting read. I like the way it travels lazily along. Like a river past sights, sounds, and memories. It's always a pleasure to view and read your work.

Love the image on its own, love the narrative on its own, and they taste great together! Something I'll most likely remember for a long time: In his opinion — considered and objective — New York bears too many similarities to Tokyo. He is from Tokyo. He does not need to see it in English.

in the sky. that was the first thing i thought of when i saw the title. now that song will sing itself to me all night! cool pic, cool words, just so much coolness i'm gonna quit while i'm ahead and just say how much i like everything about this!!

Awesome photo and narrative!!

'Ghost Riders' couldn't be a better name for this shot. They really appear and disappear quickly and at random, or if not at random, at some interesting mathematical progression. The ethereal image from a reflection fits perfectly. So many reflections are only partial. Where does the rest of the reflection go? Nice that the fellow took the time to comment on Corey's shirt. Too few people bother to compliment others these days it seems. I just spent three 8-hour days at the end of a motel parking lot trying to photograph vintage aircraft appearing with no discernable schedule. While there I noticed a young girl, Eastern European I think, possibly Russian, very pretty, working cleaning rooms I think, taking many smoke breaks, having a very bad smoker's cough. She had bleach blond hair with two streaks of pink in the back. I couldn't get her to acknowledge me, she just walked by looking away. I guess I do look scary to some people, I know that. But all I wanted to do was tell her I liked her hair.

Awesome shot.

Your ramblings are so compelling, Chip. The image is titled perfectly, and complements your meandering tale; it all fits!

Great capture and reflections. Well done

Your urban captures are transfixing--there is magic quality that mixes with the earthy realism; in other words, "Ghosts" is yet another Chipka masterpiece...
