I was here in late 1979 or early 1980. I have a picture of a friend in front of a "Llanfairpwllgwyngyll" sign and of a store poster selling "The most wanted souvenir in wales", an e.p. record of a song that teaches how to pronounce the name, with two songs in Welsh and two in English for one pound and twenty-five pence. I left with the pictures and I think a mug with the whole name and its translation into English. I'm afraid the mug has long since gone to pottery heaven. So are the fierce whirlpool and the red cave still there? I looked up Tysilio and learned that it was trouble with family that caused him to set up shop in the Anglesey area and later to flee to Brittany. He was obviously not keen on marrying his sister-in-law and becoming king. Great image and fun subject! Traditional Welsh dress, tourists, Bonanza sales, and crazily long place names all mixed together. Wonderful!
