Description

This photo was taken from the opposite side of Denver from an earlier posting titled " The Mile High City" This was an evening shot where everything came together for an interesting shot. The buildings were slightly obscured by a forest fire in the mountains to the West of Denver but it made for interesting shades of color as the sun set. Thanks for stopping by and for Your comments.

This is an amazing sunset and Denver skyline. I think that the smoke adds mystery to the city buildings. Excellent catch! Dana

Yes, the only good thing about forest fires is the sky color. This is a fabulous shot...it looks so much like a painting. I really love the effect!

As if by magic, the sky colour has been transformed by the smokiness of the former fire - amazing atmosphere, sure looks like beautiful painting ... and it's great to get to know your end, of our little world! BB

Absolutely, beyond beautiful. This proves to be even more, that I need to get out more often, and travel the world. What a heavenly sky and atmosphere. Romantic in every sense, in spite of even the tall buildings... how terrific it must be to just sit from this distance, as an observer in the silence.

Wow ! this is fabulous...what a lighting ! I had the opportunity to take photos in California, some years ago as there was a fire in the sierras...the light was exceptional.

This is stunning! The atmosphere, color, and light, all amazing! I love the horizontal lines; the streaks of the clouds, the line of the mountains and trees accented by the smoke, the sidewalk (with another horizontal line of birds) and the line of birds in the foreground. The vertical lines of the high rises, the trees in the foreground, and the pillars and reflected pillars of the building on the lake contrast very pleasingly. They bring the eye down from that glorious sky to enjoy the beauties below. I love the dark contrast of the trees, birds, and reflections. A superb shot! Absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations on Last Week in the Gallery! Very well deserved!

Lots of birds, where are all of the people? Locked up in the zoo where they all belong perhaps. Boy, I have had some good times in that park:) Love the colour of the sky!

Fires produce the most amazing skies. Your composition is superb with the lake and older buildings in the near distance overshadowed by the giant modern buildings. All of this under an apacalyptic sky makes for a stunning image.

What a great shot ~ beautiful city. The only trouble is being a Raider's fan I'd rather see a shot of Oakland.

ask and you shall receive - lol here's the shot, and reading your commenters, Denver just grew with more Population - lol... was you here in 1996? You saw California license plate everywhere - they had earthquakes, mudslides, fires, electrical outage that went on and on back then.... I was on the highway from Tampa to Denver and only saw a few Citys that I'd even think to live if Denver wasn't here.... It really is amazing how beautiful this state is.... and I love it when I talk to people that haven't been here - lol... they think we have snow everyday all year long - lol
