Now, who says I don't listen to my public? :-)
I've been fiddling about with my two skin options for Francesco and in the end I've managed to add a few more scars etc to the old one, and it's true, after a year of seeing him like this, it does look more 'like him'. Joanna, don't worry, I already have a good character lined up for the other. :-D
This was an experiment in candlelight and in texture. It's much bigger than it appears by default, so please do click on it. Comments, as always, very welcome. Especial thanks to the guys over on the Virile Noir thread at DAZ for their support and to Elynda for suggesting how to hide the mesh on the chair. :-)
Hope you're all well,
Leander

A lovely portrait, I must say, and you managed to wrangle that final render out of Studio at last! A charming image, overall. Thank you for sharing him with us!

definitely need to see full view on this - it's superb. The scars on his face are not overpowering, they are just perfect. And I love the lighting and shadows.

Great composition, nice posing and the character is definitely not your standard M4. Small critique on all things metal: Rapier hilt and scabbard end look like they are using image based reflections - highly recommend going with natural reflections, the render time-hit is definitely worth it. The knife in the foreground is the focus of the piece and looks dead - suggest trying Sha's short-cut shaders to make the blade at least look like steel. Crucifix appears to be floating - needs to twist so that all four points are resting on something solid - could also do with Sha's gold or brass shader. :) Gary

Gary, the image has been updated to reflect your concerns about the knife :-) We will have to respectfully disagree about the crucifix!
