Description
Bill was saying that he had one when he was younger. I think he said his was black. Well my dad did too for many years. His was red and just like this. The only difference was that his didn't have the cream sides, oh and his roof was red instead of black. Please view it full sized to appreciate the detail, and if you are interested. click below for a different angle.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my gallery. Tomorrow's post will be of the two wheeled variety and won't be a Cowboy!

Thanks Andrew! Yup, mine was black...looked fabulous when it was clean but began to show the dirt/dust 10 minutes after I'd washed it:-) This model is a year or two newer than my '62. 1962 was the last year for removable side curtains (plexiglas sliding windows in an aluminum frame). This model has roll-up windows which required the large chrome strip on top of the doors to fully conceal the windows when rolled down. Beautiful, detailed pictures...particularly at the zoom.

Fantastic capture of this classic. I had always wanted one and when I was in Southeast Asia I thought I could swing it. But I bought too much camera and sterea gear so I just had enough to order a 1967 Austin Healey Sprite. It cost $1310 - stateside they were advertised as the 'lowest priced genuine sports car' and cost $1995. A big Healey, the one on your upload cost $3500 when ordered overseas. Seeing what they bring now what a price. Seems like everyone had a British sports car in the early and middle 60s and the big Healy was on top of everyones list.

What a beauty!! My Uncle Bill(no kidding), the Air Force pilot(no kidding), had one of these around the time I was born ,(1962), only his was white instead of black. Never got to ride in it, but somewhere out there is a picture of him behind the wheel in crew cut and Ray-Bans looking suitably Chuck Yeageresque. This shot brought back some memories, and I like the two-toning of this one much better. Great pix!
