Description
A strange statue on the Pont Alexandre III, which is the most ornate bridge in Paris. There are many interesting Art Nouveau statues on this bridge, but this one struck me as particularly unique.

OOoh, how did I miss this one? I love this. There is a bridge in Prague that's based on a bridge in Paris...it's a point-for-point copy, except the "gold" bits are just painted yellow. Anyway, this recalls that in very pleasant ways. I love the Art Nouveau influences too, rather like an Alphonse Mucha fever dream, with a few scales thrown in just to keep it interesting. And I think this is actually a chimera rather than a gargoyle...there are obscure differences between the two and the only reason I know them is because I'm a nerd. This is a marvelous shot and I love the sense of color, light, and impressive scale. Even if this is a small detail, a small aspect it seems large and commanding. Nice. Very nice!
