Description

Well i finally managed a render with reality, please note though ,this is not a complete render, it is only 1.5 hours old so to speak and already i like it....there are a few blemishes and not sure about the shadows from the hair or the gloss finish on the hair texture. Already i can see that you need good quality textures on a figure to get the most from reality, this is also a 32bit render, two point lights(ibl setting ) and a plain background colour.. I will post the full version when i have given it a few more hours in the oven...oh and one thing more...don't have a screen saver running at the same time, it takes ages to get the desktop back up once the saver kicks in !!!! lol and i have a dual core processor at the moment and 3 gig ram..it sure is a hungry prog !!

She looks great! the eyes are amazing, really. i dont know if your looking for constructive criticism or not but i always appreciate it so here goes. the glossiness of her hair is a minor issue, good clean strong hair should have shine to it(dont mean to sound like a pantene commercial;) but i would be more concerned about the rough shadow sawtooth effect on her (stage)left shoulder, and im assuming this was a product of reality but there seems to be a small issue with the trans maps on her hair showing through, you can faintly see the actual hair object towards the hair tips, but dont take any of this as a personal attack on your or anything, new unforeseen issues always come up when using/learning new programs, it all a part of the process of bettering our art and ourselves as artists. the first time i rendered an image in max i didnt know anything about making the textures work or trans maps so the image came out looking like crap, of course back then i thought it was awesome lol! other than that the textures and eyes are absolutely phenominal and i know the final image will look amazing.

I'm looking forward to seeing the final render of this very nice portrait! Being only a little poserist, I can't give you any advice about the use of reality;- ) ! I like the eyes and the expression. This is going to be great! Cheers Odile

A very good portrait. Also I think the shine of the hair a bit too strong - but the end result is certainly perfectly! Great eyes!

You've done a wonderful work, Ian. It does take a lot of time to render a realistic image even with Poser, the lighting and render settings are two important factors to consider but the results are amazing. The waiting part is the one that sucks most.
