Description
The less handsome of the 12 Olympians, he was the son of Zeus & Hera.
It is said that when he was born he was so ugly that Zeus grab him from his little foot and through him out of mount Olympus, down to the land of mortals... After that, Hefestus was lame & never walked the normal way again.
He was accepted from the father of gods back to Olympus after his mother's begging and soon he saw everyone his talents as the god of blacksmiths, sculptors, metallurgy, fire & volcanoes. It is beleived that his blacksmith was deep inside mount Etna (modern Italy) that is still an active volcano.
He was forging Zeus thunders, Athena & Aris armours & weapons & all the great artifacts at gods palaces at the top of mount Olympus.
As a last comment of mine, Zeus decided to marry him with the famous Afrodite the goddess of love.
Gods got a weird sance of humor sometimes...

All I can say is: "WOW!" This is great. The lighting and the composition is spot on for illustration for a book cover about minor Greek or Roman gods.
