Description
Posted this quite a few years ago in my other gallery (eyeland), but thought it was worth revisiting. Found it growing on an oak tree on my property. It was quite large - about a foot & a half tall...

What an interesting specimen of whatever this is a specimen of! From the shape of it, I'd say it's probably a not-too-distant cousin from the fungus half of a lichen; it's got that same "folded fabric" shape. The colors are great as is the texture. This looks so succulent and healthy! Marvelous!

Great capture of this 'chicken in the wood', as we call it in The Netherlands. You can eat this fungus. Taste like chicken (very good).
