Description
Ex-RCN Fairey Firefly FR1, most restored to flying condition! Taken at last year's airshow at Shearwater, Nova Scotia (near Halifax). Sadly the plane was grounded due to an oil leak. It and several other examples were found, purely by chance, rotting away in the Ethiopian desert a number of years back. The Shearwater Aviation Museum got one, and this is it.

Oh what a joy! it must be great to happen upon something like this....but several.Grounded by an oil leak, well restored to that condition I could put up with seeing it on the ground...easier to photograph too....Excellent post 10/10

Great shot and thanks for telling us the history of the aircraft. Rotting away in the Ethiopian desert sounds like a hard life!
