Very nice piece! Well done. And yes, a sad goodbye to one of man's better achievements, but to answer those who couldn't see the point of going into space, landing on the moon or having a space station, think about what you have now that you didn't have before the era of space exploration. The Apollo space craft had less computing power than your average pocket calculator. With what you are all using to access this website, ie: a PC, you have the computing power to send a mission to Mars if we were still in 1969. The list of spin-offs that directly benefitted mankind is almost endless, from the micro-chip to composite materials, from satellite communications to the internet to GPS to weather forecasting systems to the Hubble Space Telescope. These things help mankind clean up it's own cr*p as one reply here mentioned. These things save lives and make our world a better place. The human race is better off for going into space. Yes, it's expensive and it's dangerous. But we do it for all mankind.

With this being the end of the shuttle missions I am left to wonder what the future will hold for our space exploration.

Great poster you have done - I think Nasa would be pleased! A bit sad, I have followed the whole program, successes and sorrows...The scientific and technolocical results can't be overestimated. Lots of improvements in our every day technology is because of this and other shuttles - and our knowledge about the universe we live in has increased significantly by Hubble Space Telescope and other satellites put in orbit by this program. But we must not forget the men and women who gave their life to this dream about reaching new horizons for our mankind.... Excellent work and fine dedi to these behind and executing this dream, Magik!...
